Socrates and Chuang-tzu has a profound meditation that the live and death is theultimate concern of life. Accurately grasp the connotation of view, provide anavailable materials for the contemporary life and death.This paper includes three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. Theintroduction is the research review, this topic study research actuality home andabroad, expounds the significance, content, purpose, methods of research andinnovative direction, lay the groundwork for the text’s writing.The first chapter explains the philosophical background,and analyzes thecognition for the live and death about Socrates and Chuang-tzu. To discussrespectively the view of Socrates "born to die" and Chuang-tzu "the life and death isequal". Socrates was open-minded in the face of death, it’s not scared. Chuang-tzuwas indifferent and open-minded in the face of death,". The highest state of life is onewith "dao". Purpose of this chapter is clear thinking cognition of life and death aboutSocrates and Chuang-tzu from the life theory level, to solve the two similarities anddifferences.The second chapter analyzes the value theory of life and death. Life value theoryof Socrates is a moral value theory. He think without reflecting on life is not worthliving. People need self-examination to live a life of virtue that from "good" idea.Chuang-tzu proposed the value standard of emulate "natural", and strived to achieve"to live while I’m alive" in body and "absolutely spiritual freedom" in sprite. Thischapter analysis Socrates’ moral and Chuang-tzu’s emulate "nature" from the lifevalue level, to solve the two view of similar and different in the aspect of value.The third chapter analyzes life beyond argument. Socrates seek virtue and truthin the paranormal sound, it will be perfect when the soul get rid of the body, the soulcan acquire the highest good at this time, we can acquire the truth. Chuang-tzuachieve the freedom which "neither alive nor dead" through the "Xinzhai""Zuowang""Jiandu", Chuang-tzu called the ideal personality as "Sheng people" and "Zhenpeople". This chapter studies the different beyond consciousness about Socrates andChuang-tzu, to solve the two differences and similarities.The fourth chapter analyzes the different aesthetic meaning. Socrates pay attention to the lofty meaning of death aesthetic, the main focus on respect his greatpersonality though the death of Socrates. Chuang-tzu pay attention to the beautifulmeaning of death aesthetic, the main focus on achieve the highest spirit freedom andthe beautiful realm" of harmony between nature and people though "Xinzhai" and"Zuowang", to achieve harmony between man and nature’s harmonious. This chapterstudies the death aesthetic meaning in the death aesthetic perspective, tries to solvetwo different aesthetic intentions.In the end, to summary two similarities and differences, expound the twodifferent effects on future generation, and discuss the contemporary positive roleview.
