How Images Narrate

On theory, humans by resembling-language capability keep images producing meanings. And in this times, it is the development of techniques, the succeeding of communicating ideas by image and the popularization of arts and cultures that realize the arrival of image times.Images and languages can be contacted and transformed to one another basing on human's general sense. So narratings by mage and language take on intertexuality. Both realize depicting and memorizing things though composition of pictures or plots, but the narrative start of both are different. A image, this signified is formed though colors and shapes in picture, and purports to be a meaning as a signifier. A word of morpheme is a signifier in realism and begins to narrate. Because of the intertexuality between image and language, narrative function is realized, at the same time the both show characteristics. Movies are the most representative one in narrating by image. Basing on the intertexuality of image and language, we analyze movie as a example of image medium showing characteristic at narration comparing the characteristics of narrating by words, from single icon, visual angle, action and space-time art these three aspects.Despite the more and more expanding of images in daily life and world , narrating by image will take the subordination place on human communication, subsistence and poetic existence. It relates to being confined on expression and getting away from depth in itself.
