The Design Of Chinese Army Uniform

Army uniform is the clothes dressed by the soldiers, which is a special symbol of a country. So it is a very important topic which attracts many fashion designers. Since the foundation of People's Republic of China, the Chinese army uniform has been changed for five times. The army uniform was adjusted to be suitable for the soldier of the time. The design of army uniform needs to consider not only its functionality but also its appearance. The appearance of army uniform must represent the spirit of the army and the soldiers. The design of army uniform must evolve with the development of the society, therefore it is an eternal topic.The aim of this thesis is to propose a systematic design methodology for army uniform design, which is based on the extensive information collection and investigation. The main contribution of this thesis may be concluded as follows,1. Conduct a depth information collection and analysis on the Chinese army uniform. This includes the history of five generation army uniforms, their varieties, pattern, colors, etc. This lays down the foundation for further research on Chinesearmy uniform.2. With request form and face to face talking, I collected the information on the viewpoints of Chinese soldiers to their uniforms. After depth analysis, we conclude that the current army uniform has the shortcoming such as lack of varieties, color issues and imperfect patterns.3. Based on the above research, we proposed a systematic methodology for army uniform design. We also have studied the key issues in army uniform design, such as color design, pattern design and so on.4. Since the army uniform is the symbol of army and soldiers, it should catch up with the development of the society, so we also studied the ways to catch the trends of the society.During the written of this thesis, the author has studied the history of Chinese army uniform systematically, and proposes its design methodology, which will benefit the further research in this area.Bai Shan(Department of Art Design) Supervised by Prof. Liu Xiaogang...
