ZhouYi (《周易》) , which is an important papery literature in ancient times, contains abundant historical materials, and the language used in it had a far-reaching influence for the aftertime. So this book is a very costly datum for the study of the vocabulary of the ancient Chinese.The writer had an exhaustive investigation of the illustrations in ZhouYi (《周易》) which are cited by the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary. Besides, the paper studied the following two parts, namely, one part that can renew the acceptation of the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary and offer illustrations, the other part that can bring the illustrations of the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary forward. From this angle, the author studied the acceptation of the monosyllabic words in ZhouYi (《周易》) , and opened out the value of ZhouYi (《周易》) as papery literature in ancient times.The thesis can be divided into four parts.Part one: the introduction of the background, the current situation of research, the method of research, the significance of research and the basic frame.Part two: This part studied the 328 illustrations in ZhouYi(《周易》) which are cited by the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary. In detail, the auther studied the following two parts respectively, namely, 291 illustrations in ZhouYi (《周易》) which are correctly cited by the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary and 37 illustrations in ZhouYi (《周易》) which are cited by the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary with negotiable paraphrase.Part three: This part studied the other illustrations in ZhouYi (《周Jir?) which can be cited by the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary. This part can be divided into two segments too. Firstly, the ones that the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary missed the meaning, and ZhouYi ((M H))) can ofter both the paraphrase and the illustrations of the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary. Secondly, the ones that the illustrations in the Unabridged Chinese Dictionary is late than the time of ZhouYi ((M H))). We studied 285 words in the second segment, which is a large number. So the author only drew 50 of them for investigation and the others were listed at the end of the thesis.Part four: the conclusion part summarized the meaning of this paper. Firstly, it can expatiate the ancient meaning of the ancient words in ZhouYi (((JrIJI))). Besides, it can also help us to understand both the time when they came into being and the evolvement track of the development history of the Chinese vocabulary. All this opened out the value of ZhouYi (((jnjj|?) as papery literature in ancient times. Secondly, our research may also help the compilation and perfect of the dictionary.
