In the 20th century, upheavals took place in China, which reflected in fictions and weakened the time factor but strengthened the space factor. Influenced by Western Modernists and Japanese neo-sensualists, Chinese neo-sensualists showed their wish of overcoming time linearity and preference of space structure. In order to represent the transient and intangible feelings and impressions, the neo-sensualists attempted to adopt the new artistic technique of overcoming time by space, which not only succeeded at employing fast-rhythm plot-advance, literary montage, and western stream of consciousness, but also creating the time and space structure completely different from other schools. On describing the urban life, the neo-sensualists were absorbed in capturing fantastic feelings and impressions, externalizing human's subjective feelings and impressions, brave in using movie techniques for reference, all of which made the neo-sensualists' fictions' narration and style completely different from traditional novels. Movie techniques such as perspective, close shot, feature and caption were directly used to construct fictions, breaking the time sequence in traditional narration by the presentation of visional form. The visional narration replaced the traditional narration. The juxtaposition of different affairs and the reflection of different scenes made everything seem to be simultaneous, dialogue, affection and vision occurring at the same time. While observing the real life, the neo-sensualists discovered the spiritual space, and the monologue and montage made their psychoanalytic fictions excellent and distinctive. They were more concerned about eternal human existence, so characters were created in specialization situation so as to become symbolistic sign, which made their historical frictions become another kind of myth and fable.
