| The modern Chinese novels after the May Fourth Movement showed different style characteristics from traditional novels from the beginning.In Shanghai in the 1920 s and1930s,the Neo-sensualists represented by Liu Naou,Mu Shiying,and Shi Zhecun was good at expressing and thinking about modern urban society and the inner world of modern people from the spatial level.Formed a space writing theme combining inside and outside.Space writing under the Neo-sensualists can be divided into two levels: external space and internal space based on human coordinates.The external space is composed of absolute physical space and the corresponding life meaning space,and the internal space is the projection of the external society inside the subject.In addition,as an important form of Chinese early modernist literature,Neo-sensualists’ Fictions look strange and strange,but they are full of internal tension.Specifically,in terms of content,the external space in the Neo-sensualists’ Fictions mainly revolves around the daily life of the city,including modern transportation,city streets,entertainment venues,family apartments,etc.;while the internal space includes hidden psychology and personal self.Emotions and so on.They shuttled,searched and positioned between city and country,ideal and reality,tradition and modernity.They not only noticed the rapid changes in the external world,but also felt the constriction and alienation of their inner space.There was a serious dislocation between the inner space and the outer space.They could hardly find their homes,they could not find their belongings,and their hearts were always in a state of emptiness.In terms of form,the Neo-sensualists’ writers focused on the innovation of textual forms,tried to explore a variety of spatial writing,and borrowed film montage techniques,the integration of images and texts to further expand the narrative space.The Neo-sensualists completed their imagination of modernity through space writing,but this modernity is defective.Because the Neo-sensualists are too short and gorgeous,they consciously write space,but indulge in the sensory presentation of external space.On the whole,the Neo-sensualists has more innovation in space consciousness and less time extension.The text has more or less problems in constructing the breadth and width of the external world of the characters and excavating the depth and thickness of the characters’ inner life.This is a proposition worth noting. |
