Study On The Identity Issue Of Chinese Contemporary Art Independent Curator

It is less than 20 years since the phenomena of independent curator which got much accounted of in these years appeared in fine art field of China. However, it could not be ignored. The domestic curator is of independence, which seems to be original, from the word go. They have more responsibility than the unmixed independent curator in the development process of inland fine art of the time. And the composing of their identity is various. Making special contribution to the development of inland fine art and fine art industry of the time, they engineer exhibition independently by all kinds of means.There are four parts in this thesis.The first part discussed that the independent curator and the time of it came into being, which provided and opportunity for putting forward the identity issue of independent curator. It was very different in the beginning of independent curator between inland and western. It offered the independent curator both the chance and the challenge for the distempered fine art system and disordered fine art market. So it was urgent for the development of current fine art to lead the independent curator to establish their identity characteristic which was good for them.The second part, which analysed the independent curator identity in the system of western fine art exhibit, brought forth the subsistence and living condition that a professional independent curator should take. And it acquaint us with the reason for existence of domestic independent curator and the direction of inland fine art show system.The third part mainly described how the independent curator with multiple identities lived a life, planed a exhibit, obtained the domestic independent curator identity and masterminded a show in the inland fine art exhibit system. There were four exhibit-planed manners used by domestic independent curator: free practitioner,from abroad, part time and full time. It showed the puzzle dom of inland independent engineer exhibition system.The fourth part described the development foreground of domestic independent curator. The fine art zoology circumstance, which fit the independent curator, would change as inland fine art system changed. But it would influenced badly the development foreground of independent curator for the lack of fund and laws that adapted to its development.The last part summarized the whole thesis as well as pointed out the disadvantages and some issues which should be researched on.
