The appearing of the mass culture which isappreciated and supported by the official government is necessary in historicaldevelopment in the mainland china. Although many famous critics of China andforeign countries are wise to its negative sides, but they cannot obliterate its existenceand hinder its development actually . In any degree the mass culture at the rightmoment will put away the emotion that is not secure ,which maintain the society to bestable, so the social productive forces (mainly referring to human's factor) can be keptreproductive , therefore the mass culture also has its positive aspect . AlthoughWangshuo became popular with the aid of the mass culture, but after joining in it hegradually discovered that he preferred to be a writer, so he left the mass culturefirmly , returning in front of the desk and writing on .Part Two : Pretending to"avoid loftiness "Wangmeng appraised Wangshuo by "avoiding loftiness" . Wangshuo kept onfighting against the authority and the traditions , but being away actually from "loftiness". For a long time the cultural circles had alreadybeen used to the legitimate literature always "toing the line", therefore his"discourteous" behavior couldn't be accepted , thus Wangshuo was understood bymistake. Actually his special behavior symboled its unique significance . Wangshuoexactly fired at something "non-lofty" he thought with the "non-lofty" weapon , bydoing that he would like to achieve his goal to draw close " loftiness" . But becauseWangsuo didn't use his weapons properly , his novels having some regretable faultystroks, which was also an important reason that he was misunderstood by mistake.Wangshuo was a humanist , whose many works were paying attention to the lives ofthe people at the bottom of the society , telling the fact that those people struggled forthe dignity being "the human" . But Wang Shuo was not understood actually by themajority of people in the contemporary literary arena , his " impudent " remarks andbehaviors with excess made many people think that he had little social responsibility,even ruining the social conventions . The fact that Wangshuo was suffered from beingstroken and misunderstood by the end of 20 century " had some relations with hisperformance "being away form loftiness " , but today it can be thought as the sorrowin the history of the contemporary literature.Part Three : The cultural performance full of individualityIn the contemporary literary arena, Wangshuo ,who didn't belong to any schoolof thought , behaved distinctively . It was shown specially in his narrative way aboutthe Great Cultural Revolution . Wangshuo was gone away from the traditional waycomplaining the Great Cultural Revolution , instead telling it with the tender feeling .Wangshuo and Jiangwen agreed with each other about it .In Jiangwen's film SunlitDays adapted by Wangshuo's novels the days during the Great Cultural Revolutionwas told as wonderful time . But it did not mean that Wangshuo and Jiangwenappreciated the Great Cultural Revolution which brought the disaster to mainlandChina. They tried new way "counter-traditional" to tell the former subject. Theyshowed the tender feeling not to the Great Cultural Revolution but to the youth timewhich already passed. Through recollecting and remembering fondly "the time ofgrowing", they meant that it is right the Great Cultural Revolution that make theiryouth time "the random" and spent idly. Wangshuo also displayeded his culturalindividuality in the attitude for the intellectuals . Wangshuo held the denial standpointextremely for the intellectuals , treating intellectuals as "the targets" that he rebelledagainst the traditional culture . Wangshuo started with breaking off the intellectualscompletely, then voluntarily becoming one of the intellectual group, but finaly Wangshuo reconsidered his extreme words and behavior for intellectuals. It is difficult forWangshuo to expain it himself, perhaps five senses can only be tasted by Wangshuohimself ."The phenomenon about Wangshuo" as the important refletion of the political,the economical and the cultural reforming in china , has brought the positive effectsand the negative effects which is worth thinking deeply. No matter how to evaluate"the phenomenon about Wangshuo" in the history of contemporary literature, it hasoccured and been studied , resulting in the tremendous influences ,which is true, andthat has shown it is valuable in some degree.
