In Kangyouwei's whole life,"monarch"regarded as the centre of political ideology and political practices.He was born in a traditional official's family, He was very deeply impressed on the traditional thought. After he grew up , he studied western culture. He began to criticize the autocratic monarchy system. Although he thought the autocratic monarchy is the important reason that China lag behind the western,he saw monarch's most lofty status in the Chinese society. He thought China needs the monarch to lead the reform. So, he hoped the emperor of Guangxu becomes the leader of the reform. The Reform Movement of Wuxu is that for an experiment of his thought , the movement failed beacuse the emperor didn't has real power.As the traditional intellectual, he was determined to repay the emperor's trust. His becomed firm constitutional monarchy , in the political career of his latter half of life. When he was in the west,he saw the advantage of the constitutional monarchy country and the bad consequence which may bring in revolution .So, he firmly objected to the revolution. Became extinct in Qing Dynasty, he has proposed the theory of " Xunjungonghe", until dying.We can clearly see that there were two clues in the development of Kang Youwei's view of monarch , one was Kang Youwei's observing, comparing, and thinking the political situation , which draw a conculision that China must take the road to constitutional monarchy. Another one was his own personal affection toGuangxu,mading a start after the Reform Movement of Wuxu. We have analyzed this kind of change. We find he had modernized political ideology , also he had traditional blood. In addition, his philosophy thought and his personality moulded his unique idea about monarch.
