"Treaty Re-negotiation Movement"is an important event of diplomacy in the early days of Nanjing National Government. It maintains the dominion of China, consolidates the new regime, and adapts to the development of Chinese economy. It is the first time to attempt to abolish the unequal treaties signed in the late Qing dynasty under the pressure of foreign powers. And this movement laid the base for concluding new treaties in future.On the base of the precursors'research, the paper coordinates facts of the movement, and analyses some important diplomatic activities during this three-year period, trying to provide experience for later history.The paper is made up of four parts:Partâ… is foreword, it mainly defines the concept of"Treaty Re-negotiation Movement", introduces the situation of current research of mainland & Taiwan academic communities, and the goal of this paper.Partâ…¡describes the process of"Treaty Re-negotiation Movement". According to the time sequence, this part effectively combines the Wang Zhengting's"revolutionary diplomacy"with the process of the movement, for avoiding only attaching importance to either of the two sides.Partâ…¢is the main body of the paper, analyzing advantages and disadvantages of"Treaty Re-negotiation Movement". In this part, the author discusses how the ideological and philosophical currents within and without influenced the process and direction development of this movement, researches the gain and loss of Wang Zhengting's gentle"revolutionary diplomacy", recognizes historical achievement of taking back the independent tariff right and concession, analyzes the movement's influence to Nanjing national regime, and explains the historical limit in this diplomatic behavior.
