Eileen Chang, a female author who came into the Chinese literates in the 40's,also has very strong consciousness of women. On the one hand, she criticized male supremacythat resulted the women-tragedy, on the other hand, she began to scan the women, tried to find the inside reason of the women-tragedy. She keenly felt that, the oldChinese women had intrinsic shortcomings and demerits in their minds. Furthermore, these defaults and ideas had deeply imprinted on women's mind, and influenced theirdaily lives. Their souls are aberrant, and already belong to themselves. The absolutelyadhered themselves to their husband, don't have any own thoughts. As time passed, women lost themselves. Eileen Chang wanted to let women know, women have the same right with men, there is no need to live depended on men. They should realize their predominance andself-value, get rid of the chain of male supremacy and their servility to men. So and soonly, women will live free and graceful. Chang's spirit of self-examination is veryvaluable and worshipful in that time. Just because of the spirit of self-examination,Eileen Chang is a very excellent women novelist in Chinese modern literature history.
