The irony is a very frequent and important rhetoric means of narration in the novel. Itsmain purpose is to broaden the arts space of the work and to develop the implication of thework. The Chinese and foreign researchers pay an extensive attention to it because of itssubtle description, deep influence and affording for thought in narrating the events, shapingthe character and showing the author's emotional attitude. This thesis combines the Chineseand foreign ironical theory of the literature theory, basing on the ironical rhetoric theory.Through the study of Lu Xun's novel's ironical narrating art the author laid emphasis on theLu Xun's language irony(including the three perspectives of narration language irony,character self language irony and character dialogue language irony), structure irony, andtheme irony which had brought huge tension to the novel narrative text and on the functionand value embodied in the novel by means of this rhetoric method. The author means toclarify the ideal connotation and spirit essential of the Lu Xun's novels and explore animportant and effective approach to Lu Xun's text research.
