The Study Of Disyllable Character Adjectives' Germination

"Germination"is an important grammatical device and a phenomenon in Chinese, which has been widely concerned by the language study. Among the"Germination"adjectives, disyllable character adjectives are more frequently used, so they occupy an important position. Disyllable character adjectives can overlap for AABB-type,ABB-type,A里AB-type. This dissertation mainly studies the AABB-type Germination of disyllable character adjectives and focuses on their formation form,the syntactic function,the semantic conditions,the grammatical meaning and the causation of these words . The paper consists of four parts and the main elements are as follows:First, this part introduces the three types. The dissertation mainly studies the AABB-type Germination of disyllable character adjectives. Considering the relation between the germination and words-building pattern, the paper generalize the formation patterns of germination, which include consecutive word germination,compound word germination and additional word germination, then on the basis of statistical analysis , this part presents a comparison.Second, on the aspect of syntax function, we compare germination pattern with ground pattern, and conclude these two types serve as an adverbial modifier, a predicator, an attributive, a complement and an object. At last it concludes that there is all-pervading difference between germination pattern and ground pattern: germination pattern could not accept the qualification of degree adverb, but ground pattern could or must accept the qualification of degree adverb.Third, the paper discusses about several important factors that affect the ability of the germination pattern. These factors contain the capacity of meaning, the image of meaning, the degree of meanings'self-control, ameliorative and derogatory sense of word a s, and so on. Furthermore, it considers that the grammatical meanings of disyllable character adjectives signify the increase of the capacity of meaningThe last , with the theory of in iconicity cognition, it confirms that the most important motive of AABB-overlapping adjectives is to signify the increments. And it further points out that the motive of"germination"is the overlapping of ideological fields which takes the form of the linguistic overlapping.
