On The Modern Characteristics Of Metaphors Of Literary Works In The New Times

Metaphor, which people like to use both in spoken languages and written languages, is one of the important methods of expressions in modern times as well as ancient times. It attracts a great attention of the scholars both at home and abroad. Along with the modern linguistics development, researchers pay more and more attention to metaphor research. They not only fix their eyes on its essential factors and constitutions, but also to some other research areas which connect metaphor with literature, psychology, culture, philosophy and so on. These new areas bring metaphor a bright future.This paper, on the basis of former scholars' research and literary works in new times, makes a comparison of metaphor difference used in literary works before and after the new times. And classifies the metaphor into different types and at the same time discuss the characteristics of metaphor so as to make an analysis of how the times and society influence metaphor, that is times can be reflected through literary works. From an angle of the characteristics, what is discussed above, is a combination of metaphor with literature and society. It makes a stress of how outer factors influence metaphor. This paper, focusing on the new times, makes a complete and systematic study and explanation to the characteristics of metaphors.
