Aesthetic distance is the traditional topic of the aesthetic study and it is subjective psychological distance of aesthetic main body in essence. This thesis novels from based on the relevant theory of aesthetic distance, combining Steven Zweig's idiographic works it analyzes the aesthetic distance art of Zweig's short novels from three aspects. The foreword part introduces Zweig's status in world literature history, analyzing current conditions and relevant theory of aesthetic distance art and puts forward the topic this thesis intends to discuss. The three parts of texts discuss from the aspects of the control of temporal distance, generalization narration, scenic depiction and narrative distance. This thesis adopts the analysis methods of aesthetic, psychology and narratology, exploring from multiple perspectives, we found that Zweig is good at describing the characters' psychology and he is good at grasping the readers' psychology. He can deal with various main bodies' relationships skillfully through all kinds of means and setup all kinds of distances appropriately to achieve ideal aesthetic effects.
