"Formal-Leisured" Expressed In The Furniture Design

With improve of people's lives, more and more people pay attention to furniture's culture character. In lots of the characters, "formal- leisured" is typical. The meanings of them are contrary, so, we can analyse the characters of furniture through them., and give some revelatory advice for improving the quality of furniture design. At the same time, we can explore some methods for design. The illegibility of "formal- leisured" that appeared on the furniture has been discussed, too. It's the result of society development.This study is produced on the base of learning many symbol theory. From the follow aspect, analysed the signification of the" formal- leisured" for furniture: the context, functional "formal- leisured" and symbolic" formal- leisured", transverse and historical embodiment of formal-and how to express the characters of he furniture. Lot's of symbolic principium are introduced into this study and be as base points because of the revelatory significances. And this is why people attach more importance to symbol theory.This study begined with the meaning of "formal- leisured", and spread from two ways: transverse and historical, considered the whole and the part, the commonness and the individuality. I hope this study can contribute to the design methods and meanings expressing for furniture.
