The art of Chinese traditional furniture has its long history, just like the Chinesetraditional painting. The aesthetic orientation of Chinese traditional furniture isusually similar to that of painting in the same age and many painters oftenfocus their objects to the furniture, which not only objectively record the currentart of furniture, but convey the similar the esthetic interest as well.Commonly, Chinese traditional painting is portrayed by these aspects,including sculpt, material, pattern and so on. With the flowing thousands ofyears, our life has changed a lot, the same as to the furniture we use every day,shape or function. By looking through the painting on the topic of furniture, wecould experience a luxuriant world and especially how this world hasdramatically changed, which verify the vicissitudes of our life, mentally andphysically. In regard of the vicissitude of furniture itself, it could divided to threephases: low-rise, transitional and high-rise, accompanied with the age, beforeHan Dynasty, Han Dynasty to Tang Dynasty and behind Tang Dynastyrespectively.When painting focus on the furniture, the painter only lined drawing intraditional ink and brush style at initial stage. While with the development of thefurniture, the art of painting on furniture also continuing advanced in affect ofthe art of furniture itself. Thus, this study focuses on the interrelationshipbetween painting and furniture.
