Poets In The Early Period Of Tang Dynasty And JianAn Literature

The prosperity of Tang poetry owes much to JianAn literature .Take Chen Zi'ang , Li Bai ,Dufu for example ,Chen Zi'ang realized that the literature of JianAn Period was of different and even higher value in comparison with that of the Six Dynasties. He elevated it to such a position as of possessing the power of eliminating literary malpractice and revitalizing the style of writing .It was thus widely spread and accepted, becoming the mainstream force influencing the development of Prime-Tang Dynasty literature. Li Bai and Du Fu both valued JianAn literature and learnt from it .Li Bai discarded its pomposity but retained its style .With his words idealistic and simple, he made a fresh and elegant style .Having experienced and thought a lot, Du Fu made his writing deeply rooted in reality by vigorous and moving narration or lyricism ,thus creating a gloomy and depressing style .When choosing from contemporary poems , Yin Fan set style as an important criterion ,thus reinforced the importance of JianAn literature upon Prime-Tang Dynasty poets .His comment is very representational . JianAn style set a model for contemporary poets with its elegance ,grace and vigor widely pursued. The essence of JianAn literature lies in its persistence in pursuing ideal and its bold facing to reality .It influenced the poets of Tang Dynasty a lot and helped the formation of literary prosperity in Prime - Tang Dynasty.
