The Qin Slips In Shuihudi Area & Study Of Marriage Custom

The contents of the Qin slips in Shuihudi area are mixed with cultural elements of Chu area, and the concerning marriage contents catch the majority. This dissertation examines marriage custom and ideas reflected by the Qin slips, with the combination of the cultural heritage and the other folk material, based on other scholars' achievements.First, it examines the marriage etiquette and custom that appears in Rishu totally, including the good day in choice and marriage ceremonial; Next, it inquires into the marriage ideas inside the slip contents, including the common conception towards the husband and wife at the society, the position of a wife in the family and society, wife-discarding, and remarry system; Thirdly, it discusses the cohabit appearance in a family, involving the living pattern and construction in the influence of the small family system in Qin Dynasty.Conclusions can made through the study on the Qin slips in Shuihudi area. Late in Warring States, people of Qin & Chu select good marriage dates according to divination, there are a lot of etiquette particularities about marriage to pay attention; Men and women are restrained by the law. A husband must go to the local authorities to register if he wants to discard his wife. Women have lower position in the society and the family life, undertaking certain responsibility. In the divorcing problem, the husband grasps the final decisionmaking power, and the wife is always subordinated to the husband or the society; That small household family system is in vogue in Qin & Chu society. This dissertation is helpful to exploring social custom and marriage ideas of Chu area under the Qin's controlling.
