This paper uses the method of culture research to unscramble her works complicated meaning, and namely to research the special culture tradition of Hong Kong and the complicacy of public culture in the course of city progress. When we deeply dig all her works, we will discover an inside psychic spirit clue, from disappointment rooted the actuality to looking for the dream, then from losing the dream to returning the reality. This paper compares this process with from the lost Eden to arcadia, then to dream factory. This clue is derived from that the author continually balanced the modernistic thinking against the mercantile choice. And the social background is the mature culture industry of Hong Kong society whose influence is dual to the writers, namely restriction as well as adding fuel to the fire. This kind of influence make the position of the writer present the complicated antinomy. They usually criticize reality at the same time showing spontaneously the tendency in identifying with secularism. In this meaning, Lilian Lee becomes a specimen, representing those writers of Hong Kong who are fettered by the special culture industry of Hong Kong, and constantly self-breakthrough. On the other hand, they try to create the exquisite works of the public culture, at the same time, they also eager to become pet and stay up depending on the power of culture industry.
