| Serigraphy appears in people' s memory as a form of art in a very short time, like a whole new kind of drawing. In fact, it has its history with a twist and turn. Through the development of investigation, we could know the characteristics of serigraphy, and understand Andy Warhol' s words "Everyone has three minutes to be notable". After sufficiently knowing the history and actuality of serigraphy, the next step is to talk about the actuality and development of modern art; with the characteristics of modern society, analysing the shortcoming of modern art and the the tendency of artists, we could understand it totally. With the historical investigation, combining the drawing theory and practice, this thesis has specifically discussed the history of serigraphy and the actuality and development of modern art, and also put forward some thoughts of the future.The whole thesis is divided into two chapters and five parts.Chapter 1: The investigation of the history of serigraphy.Preface : Basic information of serigraphy' s history anddevelopment.I The historical origin, the restraint of serigraphy; the historical investigation of early making crafts; the differences between the ancient and modern crafts; the reason why silk printing hasn' t been appreciated in a long time.II How the silk printing, beginning as a sort of technique, turns into a whole new form of art; the boom, development and fall of serigraphy in western countries; the impact which serigraphy brings to the modern art.Chapter 2: Thoughts of development of modern art. I What kind of changes can be brought into people' s standard of art appreciation by development of economics and popular culture. As an artist, should we adapt to the changes of condition or should we focus on self-development with isolating the society.II Combining the history and actuality of modern art and serigraphy, as well as the practice, the possible way of development of concerned art and technique can be brought forward.
