Henri Dutilleux (1916.1.22—2013.5.22), one of most distinguished composers of France, who has emerged before the Second World War. Dutilleux was outstanding and adhere to his own aesthetic orientation, he did not blindly follow the trend while suffered undue neglect. In spite of this, he never stopped writing. His music works, although not much, but each one is perfect, clear. His music is like the process of life, without the slightest obstacle, but always alive. And, more importantly, his music was poetic and always has a profound cultural connotation. This paper will do a simple comb about Dutilleux’s life ande creation, and defines of the middle period of Dutilleux’s musical composition, roughly introduced Dutilleux’s music in his middle period, the works of several important orchestral works, and do a rough summary of characteristics of his creative techniques. And with a study on the influence from the literature, painting and other arts categories to him, clear his music creation concept formation process. The end of the paper is a brief description of the communication and learning process between Dutilleux and the composers of the same era.
