Translation, which begins with language and ends with language, is actually thetranslation from one kind of thinking into another with language as its tool. Each nationhas its typical thinking modes which to some extent decide not only the way of linguisticorganization but also the way of readers' understanding to the objective world. In thisthesis the Chinese and English thinking modes are divided into four pairs: the syntheticthinking mode vs. the analytic thinking mode the curvilinear thinking mode vs. thelinear thinking mode the image thinking mode vs. the abstract thinking mode theontological thinking mode vs. the objective thinking mode. Then the study over impactof thinking modes on translation from the text structure perspective is emphasized andfive efficient and applicable translation techniques for text translation are offered at theend: recasting, reversing, adjustment of sentence density, perspective changing and thecomprehensive technique.
