This thesis seeks to study the style of Eileen Chang's novels in the later period. In 1952, Eileen Chang left Shanghai for Hong Kong, where she finished her two novels The Rice Sprout Song and The Naked Earth, which can be regarded as the beginning of her later period creative writing. Comparing with her novels in 1940s, this thesis tries to analyze the change of the style of her novels in the later period.Part â…  . The ways of change. On the basis of comparison between novels in theearlier period and the later period, we can see the ways of the style's change in the later period: 1. language;2. rhetoric;3. straightforward narration;4. narrator;5. structure. In a word, "straightforward and natural" style is the aim of Eileen Chang's novels in the later period.Part â…¡. The reasons of change. 1. the experience of creative writing during thetime she lived in Hong Kong at the second time;2. the change of circumstance of creative writing;3. the view of novel history in the later period;4. the aesthetics of novel in the later period;5. the mood in her old age.Part â…¢.
