The novel is trivial acts was actually established in "Yiwenzhi" chapter of Chinese book. And the view of novel has deep affection for development of ancient Chinese novel since then, but it has changed with the time passing by. The number of novels appeared in "Yiwenzhi" of New Book of Tang edited by Ouyang Xiu and others in Song Dynasty has by far surpassed that of previous ages. Among these novels there are 39 novels of Pre-Tang times and 84 novels of Tang dynasty, adding up to 123 novels. Although many scholars have thought that "Yiwenzhi"of New Book of Tang is an important symbol of the change of view of ancient Chinese novels, it is still to be verified with authentic documents. The paper, which is a collect of notes, is composed by the way of organizingdocuments------that is to gather relational words dispersed in numerous documents inorder to clarify the trait of novel in "Yiwenzhi"of New Book of Tang .The Paper is divided into two chapters, the first part is about Pre-Tang times and the second part is about Tang dynasty. It is organized in a sequence of times, gathering the registering words as many as possible dispersed in national and personal bibliography of past dynasties, and the comments and version research on novel of "Yiwenzhi" chapter of New Book of Tang. Moreover, by classifying expositions dispersed in numerous documents, it comments in the way of notes on all one's life of every writer, times of novel, main contents, version in past dynasties, existent version of every novel, so that we can obtain a general and total understanding on novel of "Yiwenzhi" of New Book of Tang on the basis of documents.
