Sentiment for spring and autumn is a usual aesthetic experience of Chinese ancient poets. The poems those are sentimental for spring and autumn is a conspicuous part of Chinese classical poems for their large quantity and numbers of famous creations. In 1980s, it came into the research view. The scholars probe into many aspects as the reason of being sentimental for spring and autumn, the content of the feeling, and the ways of expression. According to the original meaning of the word "spring" and "autumn", the genetic signification of sentiment for spring and autumn, and the current view of the academe, we can allege that the sentimental poem of spring and autumn, which can be defined as the poems about the interaction between the sadness in life and the scenery in spring and autumn, took shape in The Book of Songs. It can be classified into six species as the sadness of the lapsing life, homesickness, lovesickness, unrecognized talents, permanent or temporary parting and the thought and sentiment of history and current problems. From the era before Qin Dynasty to Sui, the sentimental poem of spring and autumn experienced several great changes. The tradition of caring about the life began in The Book of Songs, but the sentiment of spring and autumn then was no more than the dissatisfaction of true-life. In The Songs of Chu, the sentiment of spring and autumn was broadened into the anxiety of the country and people. The scenery in spring and autumn was developed from the simple starting images to the imagoesmelting the poets' emotions. From Han dynasty to Jian-an era, the sentimental poem of spring and autumn reflected the turbulent society and the solemn and stirring Zeitgeist. At then, the scenery depicted in the poem had already been the harmonious picture. From Zhengshi era to the Jin dynasty, when the Taoism philosophy was prevailing, the sentimental poems of spring and autumn then were full of philosophy. However, the thinking fashion of "extricate the heart form emotion by wisdom" seriously weakened the poems' lyricism, making a sharp contrary to the exquisite scenery in the poems. From the dynasty of South and North to Sui dynasty, the sentiment of spring and autumn return to life and the real world, showing a trend of leisure, luxury and enjoyable melancholy. After the Gong-ti poems' appearance, lovesickness became the focus of poetizing. At then, the sadness and the spring and autumn scenery began to melt into each other. The poets were good at choosing proper imago to show the momentary feelings. In more than one thousand years, the sentimental poem of spring and autumn experienced a double denied course from true-life dissatisfaction to philosophy thinking, and then return to real world.
