A Study On Xiao Hong's Novels And Her Psychology Of Creation From The View Of The Regional Culture

Mr. Yan Jiayan pointed out: "literature is related with its region, which seems tohave been noticed by person early." Many famous scholars have begun to study thevisual angle of region and culture in the contemporary literature.Xiaohong's novelsaroused readers' and researcher's interest by its special country region charming, butit is hard for the southern researchers, who are unfamiliar with the northeast region inChina, to understand and find out the contradictional description, even thecomplicated emotion implicated by narrator. The writer who lives the same region asof that of the researched object, and understands the characters of region, and theregional customs in Xiao Hong's novels. Starting out from this point, in this thesis,according to the writer's individual living experiences in northeast part in China, thewriter will analyze Xiao Hong's novels in details to look forward to finding theneglected or isolated characters of regional culture of the northeast part in China,trying to analyze the complex emotion of intertexture to the hatred and love to hermotherland, which is hidden in her novels, and analyze the emotional affect on XiaoHong's creation. The thesis will start out from the visual angle of regional culture, and take XiaoHong's most excellent works-The Field of Live and Death ,The Biography of HulanRiver as core to analyze Xiao Hong's psychology of creation. The papers can bedivided into three parts. In the first part, the author discusses the contradictionalnarration of the northeast region in Xiao Hong's novels, mainly from the twoperspectives of environmental characteristics and custom features. As toenvironmental characteristics, the author discovers Kang-a special space image anddiscourse field in Xiao Hong's novels from discussing the characters of vast space andstatic time. As to the custom features, this part mainly analyzes the particulardescriptions about weddings and funerals, childbirth and illness, festivals and customsin Xiao Hong's novels.The second part, based on the first part, goes on to discuss Xiao Hong's thoughtand reflections on the nature of northeastern people which is shown in her narration ofnortheast region in her novels. We can often find the descriptions about thecontradictions of the features and nature of northeastern people in Xiao Hong's novels,which are numbness and indifference, but with strong feelings, savage and backwardbut with the awareness of struggling and fighting, and other contradictions in thenarration.The third part analyzes Xiao Hong's complicated feeling of love and hate to herhomeland and the reasons for such feeling through the contradictory descriptionsabout the nature of the folks and the regional customs of the homeland in Xiao Hong'snovels. The part is composed of two sections: the complicated feeling of love and hate,and the complexity of identification and stand point.
