On The Environmental Thoughts And Realistic Value Of Eco-literature

Eco-literature refers to the literature that observes and demonstrates the relationship between human beings and nature. The research of eco-literature starts from 1970s. With the spreads of eco-thoughts throughout the world, it becomes a formal branch of literature research in 1990s. Until today, study on eco-literature is fairly inefficient, particularly in China.This paper discusses from the relation between human beings and nature. It then discusses the denotation and characteristics of eco-literature thoroughly. Besides, it analyzes the historical reasons for the origin of eco-literature and its current developing systematically. From the angle of ecological crisis both in nature and in psychology, with the wide spread of ecological ethics thoughts, the paper describes the background of the rise and prosperity of eco-literature. It also interprets some masterpieces of eco-literature and explores the significant denotative thoughts of each book from the perspective of environmental protection, including revealing ecological crisis, cultivating the awareness of ecological danger, advocating the integral ecological notion and calling for the respect to nature. It also discusses the realistic value of eco-literature in today's world, that is the influence exerted on the areas of politics, economy and life etc because of the wide spread of environmental protection thoughts existed in eco-literature, which not only promotes the rise of eco-politics, but also provides ideological thoughts for sustainable development and a kind of life style friendly to the environment.The harmonious relation between human and nature is the basis for the construction of harmonious society. Provoking the awareness of environmental protection and advocating the duty to nature and the synergetic develop of human and nature is the distinctive characteristics of eco-literature. The research of eco-literature is beneficial to promote the development of the study of eco-literature and develop the educational function of literature. It also helps strengthen people's awareness of environmental protection, which may promote us to step into a eco-civilization era with the feature of being harmony between human beings and nature earlier.
