In recent years, many films about Chinese memory have got awards at the international film festivals and raised the waves of looking back yesterday once more. The film makers, such as the sixth generation, arouse the audience's memory in deep heart and soul, with the faraway era background, the obsolete image details and the dust-laden individual past events. The sensitive medium even names it"the third collective nostalgia of Chinese movie". The nostalgic tendency of Chinese film is the precise focus on which this article concerns.In this dissertation, I am trying to research the current nostalgia of Chinese films from following five aspects, generalize the overall nostalgic tendency from longitudinal and horizontal angle, analyze the narrative theme and the esthetic style for specific movie text, then elaborate the reasons of the tendency which has the similar cultural character, and appraise the value and the limit about nostalgia.I,Generalize the overall nostalgic tendency of current Chinese film from longitudinal and horizontal angle. On longitudinal angle, movie art and the memory have the extremely close relationship. there are lots of classics about memory in the development of the international film. The memory dimension of contemporary Chinese film begins with the end of the huge political culture catastrophe, since the end of the 70's and the beginning of 80's, from the"the scar","reconsidering"of the third generation and the fourth generation of directors, and the"search for root"of five generation, to the nostalgia in 90's, the Chinese movie makers never stop reminiscence and ponder of the past.
