The study of the development in the lower reaches of JIN SHA river is very poor. This article tries to restore the social features of this area in MING and QING dynasty on economic and ecological perspective. The emphasis is the discussion on the ecological destruct made by the agriculture and ore-smelting. The author also points out the lessons we should learn from the history.The thesis consists of the preface and the main body which four topics are expounded.In the preface, the author prescribes the space scope and the time extent for this article, and explains the reasons for study in terms of the academic value and the practical significance. Then, the author looks back the studying achievement, in order to get the newest view.The first section of main body outlines the evolution of the administrative areas and the changes of the population distribution. From that, we can learn the political and cultural background of development.In the second section, the author discusses the course of the economic development .The main content of this part involves traffic, agriculture, handcraft and commerce. The development of agriculture and ore-smelting is the most important part for it destroyed ecological environment greatly.In the third section, the author tries to restore the ecological environment in the lower reaches of JIN SHA river in MING and QING dynasties through historical records.The fourth section discusses the relationship between economic development and records.
