Natural disasters are a constant topic. Natural disasters were frequent andmany kinds in our history. In the late feudal society of China’s Ming and QingDynasties, it was the high incidence of natural disasters, the lower reaches of theYangtze River region was no exception. Basis on fully digging the historical data,it makes a more comprehensive investigations on the natural disasters and ruralsocial conflict’s interaction of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River region inMing and Qing dynasties, from a new perspective. It divides into four parts:The first part describes the situation and characteristics of the naturaldisasters of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in Ming and Qing Dynasties.Through combing historical data, respectively to gather statistics of the disastertype and frequency in Ming and Qing dynasties regions, and then analyzes thefrequent variety, scope wide and relatively dense and many other features.The second part analyzes the reasons of frequent natural disasters of thelower reaches of the Yangtze River in Ming and Qing Dynasties. It points out thefrequency of disasters and lower reaches of the Yangtze River region-specificgeographical environment, climatic conditions, stream characteristics inseparable,but closely related to the policy of unreasonable and contrary to the concept ofsustainable development of economic activities.The third part is researching on the impact of natural disasters on the ruralsociety. The frequency of disasters brought a huge disaster-ridden disaster to thepeople of the rural society, resulting in food insecurity of rural society, economicdecline, villagers epidemic harassment, the situation of people displaced, resultingin the rural society is very unstable, there thieves, robbers rampage and anti-grainrefusal to pay taxes, robm, insurrection, competition for water, soil China expulsion of displaced persons and other conflict, the traditional concept of ethicsalso will be lost.The fourth part mainly expounds the status of social conflict under thedisaster environment. It mainly expands from generating of the conflict control,the escalation of the conflict control and the influence of conflict control. Militaryrepression and greatly parenting were two control means of the feudalgovernment.
