Naqqara, a film-ringing percussion instrument, is widely distributed and used in many countries and areas, bearing musical culture features of different places. It is also used widely in the south, the north and the east of Xinjiang where Uighurs are densely populated. Combined with different cultures of Xinjiang, it puts up various features for aptotic performance and its complete playlist. Therefore, Naqqara plays an important role in the traditional music of Uighurs.Based on previous research works and field investigation of the author, using comprehensive theories and methods of ethnomusicology arganology,ethnopology and other subjects, this paper makes a relatively all-around study of Naqqara music in Xinjiang. The whole paper can be devided into six parts.Part I, the preface, based on the summary of Naqqara research works and according to the author's field investigation, puts forward the author's visual angle and working method.Part II summarizes Naqqara's background related to geography of Xinjiang, ecology, nationality structure, culture and so on, believing that to some extent, Naqqara music represents the integration of Uighur culture.Part III describes the characteristics of Naqqara's sworking system and performance form, and combined with relative cultural relics, and literatures, aqnalyzes Naqqara's origion and its evolution.
