Since the discovery of the Mongolia Royal Print of The Story of the Stone in 1961, its particular remarks between lines have aroused the interest of many researchers. And their doubts and argument lie in the question whether they are the works of relatives or friends of Cao Xueqing, such as Zhi Yanzhai. Many former researchers have shown their viewpoints from the angle of different editions. This paper concentrates on the comment about the ways of world at that period, about the style of the comment about the critic himself, and it compares with Zhi Yanzhai's remarks and it further explores the feature of Mongolia remarks. In the former 49 chapters, there are Mongolia remarks and some of it take the form of meter, in which some use the images of Flower and Water to comment on those moving and cordial emotions so as to create an implicit and artistic conception. And it is the very specialty that the edition contains. The many pen slips show that it has been repeatedly copied; As far as diction is concerned, the major difference between Mongolia Remarks and Zhi Yanzhai's Remarks lies in the understanding of the term Hero, and it is the uniqueness of the former one's remarks. As to the critic himself, he knows little about Cao Xueqing's background and experience, and he does not give further details about the lost content of the edition The Story of the Stone; Further more, his attitude to the characters and attitude to novels and plays he cited are different from that of those people such as Zhi Yanzhai, which lacks of generous and open-minded attitude as well as the spirit of renovation. On connotation of the remarks in addition to Zhi Yanzhai's revelation of Cao Xueqing's background and experience, his remarks put much emphasis on the conclusion of Cao Xueqing's superb skill of artistic creation. Different from Zhi Yanzhai's, Mongolia remarks, besides the supposition on the author's thought and characters'psychology, it touches briefly and exactly Cao Xueqing's artistic skill. On the contrary, it attaches great importance to the comment on the worldly life. These remarks are not only lengthy but also express the feelings of the critic's detestation of the world and its ways, which is totally different from the key tone of helpless crying in Zhi Yanzhai's remarks. On the whole, the critic of the Mongolia Royal Print is different from the critics like Zhi Yanzhai and so on. But no matter who made these remarks, the truth is that it is the Mongolia Royal Remarks that undertook the remarks of The Story of the Stone, and its distinctive style and original ideas impress us. The Mongolia Royal Remarks is not an attachment to the remar k s o f Zhi Yanzhai, but it is of independent and academic value.
