Sushi's poems were the highest model of the Song's poetry. He had kinds of poem styles. In the styles, there were a large number of quatrains, it was rich in content and prominent in art. He had a style of his own and innovated courageously on the base of predecessors, and he build the model of producing quatrains in Song dynasty so that it made the quatrain of Song emerged a new face different from Tang dynasty. The discussions of Sushi's quatrains in past ages paid attention to his lushi and ancient-style poetry, but there were less systematic and comprehensive study on Sushi's quatrains.In this article the author make a more precise discussion about the content and the artistic features of Sushi's quatrains. The whole can be divided into three parts. The first part is focus on the content of Sushi's quatrains. The author classify under five types: political allegory,writing scenery,expressing sentiments,philosophy and Buddhism doctrines,responding with a poem or presenting each other with poems. According to the types, the author analyze the contents in detail, and summarize into five artistic features of his contents, then divide the quatrains into two periods according to"wutaishi'an". In the second part the author analyze the artistic features of Sushi's quatrains from the angle of inner form. The author analyze the characters of organization and structure,the ways of satire and the skills of discussion, then we think Sushi broadened the function of quatrain through using common sayings,repeated words and the argumentative ways. The ways of satire made his quatrains humorous. In the third part the author make a comparison between Sushi's quatrains and Tang dynasty's, then make a decision that Sushi learned Dufu,Bai-juyi,Dumu and so on in quatrain to a great extend , and he affected many later learners such as Huang-tingjian.
