Halliday's purpose for the construction of systemic-functional grammar is to provide a theoretical framework for text analysis. This theoretical framework can be used to analyze any text in English, either spoken or written. Radio English news is an important mass media language, and the study of its style has great significance, even though it has long been ignored in the academic area. Only very few stylisticians have studied the style of radio English news from the perspective of traditional stylistics. This paper aims at exploring the stylistic features of radio English news through text analysis, which is based on systemic-functional grammar. In order to understand its style thoroughly, the author first divides radio English news into different sub-styles according to the differences of field, then chooses one typical example from each of the four most important sub-styles, namely sports news, economical news, technological news and political news. A thorough analysis of the sample news is conducted from the perspective of interpersonal, experiential and textual metafunction, followed by a further statistical study and detailed explanation. The stylistic features of each of these sub-styles are summarized on the basis of the analyzing results. These features are mainly about Mood, Modality, Transitivity, Voice, Theme structure and TP patterns etc. Meanwhile, the author also conducts a comparative study of the stylistic features of the four sub-styles of radio English news. Finally, the stylistic features of radio English news from the systemic-functional perspective are summarized on the basis of all the previous studies.
