While the study of interlanguage has remained quite popular, the study of interculture seems far inadequate. Only a limited number of scholars have had access to the study of the theoretical issues like culture acquisition. The questions like the following, therefore arise: What is the relationship between interculture and interlanguage? Can we use the theory of interlanguage to explain interculture? How is interculture constructed? What are the characteristics of interculture? What is the significance of studying interculture? To answer these questions, the author compares interculture with interlanguage and gives a definition to interculture. Then the author makes a distinction between synchronic interculture and diachronic interculture. In the meantime, the author contends that there are four psychological processes responsible for the construction of interculture, and that interculture has three characteristics. In this paper, the author proposes the Concept of Interculture and takes advantage of the theory of "Tao" and "Qi" to support the concept. It is pointed out that interculture is an approach to the combination of "Tao" and "Qi". In the meantime, the author believes the existence of some negative effects in the process of interculture construction and suggests possible solutions to them. The empirical study of this paper indicates that people who possess the concept of interculture will show higher cross-cultural communicative competence. It is suggested that the concept of interculture should be introduced into culture learning and teaching.
