The Bull Moose Party was the nickname of the National Progressive Party which was founded in 1912 and dismissed in 1916.Beacuse it was reported by newspaper that the new party's leader Theodore Roosevelt had remarked that he felt as a bull moose. The Bull Moose Party was a "third parties" in American history. It served as an agency for the progressive .Its emergence was one of symbols of the climax of the progressive movement. The platform of The Bull Moose Party was amassed the essence of the progressive movement, and it was also a more overall progressive programme. The New Nationalism that was put forward by Theodore Roosevelt who was the leader of the new party was the typical representation of the political philosophy in the movement. During the campaign, the more important content was the competition between the Bull Moose Party and the Democratic Party, especially the contention between Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson who was the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party. The contention was not only the contest for the presidential position, but also the competition of the two parties' progressive platform. Although Wilson obtained the final success, he partly adopted the proposition of the new party in his government. Obviously, the Bull Moose Party advanced the progressive movement, and promoted the reform measure establishment. Moreover, the new party and its leader Roosevelt partially foresaw the American society's development. In a word, the Bull Moose Party contributed its share to the transformation of American modernization.
