On The Federal Government's Reformation Of Theadore Roosevelt's

The following passage is cited from 1956' s Enyclopedia Britannica: "We can say that : It is Washington who made America and Lincoln who defended America and Theadore Roosevelt who made America restore her vitality. " Here Theodore Roosevelt is correlated with Washington and Lincoln.It is mainly owing to his federal government' s reformation during his term of office. It is his reformation that made the progressive movement nationwide, which before that was only going on some states and cities.It also made himself become the first outstanding progressive movement leader.My thesis tries to narrate and analyze Roosevelt' s reformation from these four aspects:the conditions in America just before his term of office;Roosevelt' s reformation proposition :the New Nationalism;the main contents and effects of his reformatiaon;the evaluation of Rooosevelt' s reformation.Besides introduction and concluding remarkes, the whole thesis can be devided into four parts.The first part is the analysis of the conditions in America before his term of office. The changes in economy structure on the one hand accelerates the prosperity of economy , but on theother hand it also leads to a lot of political and social problems, such as the inner discord in economy (mainly because of the malady from trust), the serious social breakup, the fierce clash between social classes and so on. The development in industrialization also make the problems of envirement protection and the regulations towards railways become nationwide. Under these circumstances, it come the progressive movement and then it went on in many states and cities.The second part is to introduce and analyze his reformation proposition :the New National ism. The New Nationalism comes from the reform theory in the progressive times .From his knowledge of the conditions in America , Roosevelt inferred to the necessity of reform. And then he put forwad concrete reform measures.The main contents of the reformation is the third part. They are as follows: carrying anti-trust policy , stronging regulations towards railways;the fair policy for labor;conserving natural resourses and so on.The last part of the thesis is the evaluation of Theodore Roosevelt' s reformation .The federal goverment' s reformation make the progressive movement nationwide. It make America adapt to the transition to modern world.
