As a significant cultural activity in which ancient Chinese scholars worshiped masters and communicated academic thoughts, covering a long distance, SAFH played a profoundly vital and influential role in Chinese history. It came into being from the Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States Period, an unstable age, when religious and legal hierarchy, based on sibship in the Dynasties of Xia, Shang, and West Zhou, were subjected to collapse, meanwhile aristocratic stratum started to degrade and disintegrate.
