Bai Juyi ,an outstanding poet in the Mid-Tang Dynasty, is famous for his realism in his allegorical poems that express the hardships and sufferings of the people. He loved nature so much that he produced many valuable landscape poetry throughout all stages of his life. His landscape poems were tightly connected with his official career.Bai Juyi's poetry is characterized by simplicity. So is his landscape poetry both to the civilized and the common. It reflected both his personality and customs of his time.This thesis consists of 4 chapters. Chapter 1 is about his life: imposed guilty at Jiangzhou, banished to Zhongzhou, appointed prefecturer at Hangzhou and Suzhou, and turning hermit at Luoyang in later his life.Chapter 2 classified his landscape poetry features into 3 categorizes: feeling and setting rich in poetry; appealing to both images rich in poetry; appealing to both the cultured and the common.Chapter 3 is about the analysed of the contained sentiment in Bai Juyi's landscape poetry, in which gardens, dancing, bamboo, crane, Chinese zither with 21or25 strings, wine and tea are reflected, which made him unique among his contemporary poets.Bai Juyi inherited the creation nucleus of those landscape poets before him. Chapter 4 is about his inheriting and development of such poets as Tao Yuanming, Xie Tiao, Du Fu and Wei Yingwu.
