"Four Character Poetry", as a traditional elegant poetry, was abundantly produced in Han Dynasty. In "Xian Qin Han Wei Nan Bei Dynasties Poetry" written by Lu Qin Li, there are one hundred and fourty-three "Four Characters Poems". Besides "Four Characters Poetry", there are aslo other literary forms of Lu, for example, rhyme prose, Complimentary Prose, eulogy, epigraph, admonition, and inscription which are named as "ge" and "ci". One of Dai's "Four Characters Poetry", "Jiao Shi Yi Lin", although neglected for ages , it has an amount of poems ten times of that in "The Book of Song".Based on the idea of "Four Characters Poetry", this paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter mainly discusses the different contents of "Four Characters Poetry" in different periods from the perspective of literary creation. The second chapter mainly explains the application of "Four Characters Poetry" in other literary forms from the perspective of poetry development. The verses and rhymes of a great amount of "Four Characters Poem" aslo exist in other literary forms, such as rhapsodic poem, rhythmical prose, complimentary prose, eulogy, epigraph, admonition, and inscription, which remain their own characteristics and at the same time influence the development of many other literary forms after Han Dynasty. The third chapter explores the unique features of "Four Characters poem" from the perspective of style analysis, for instance, its inheritance and innovation of "Three hundred Poems" and its relationship with music. Lastly, the paper analyzes how the style of elegant prelude of "Four Characters Poem" of Han Dynasty is embodies in that of Dynasties after Han; And it also simply analyzes the reason of decreasement of "Four Characters poem" after Han Dynasty.
