| The line of defence along the Changjiang River in the Kingdom of Wu was the synthetic result of political situations in the period of Three Kingdoms confronting each other, geographical condition of the Changjiang River and the national power of Kingdom of Wu.It was divided into three defending regions: Jingzhou, Wuchang, and Yangzhou. There were 50,000 soldiers in Jingzhou, 130,000 soldiers in Yangzhou. Guarding the Changjiang River and fighting for the Huaihe River and the hanshui River were the tactics of Wu.Persons, named Shan Yue, who lived in the mountains of the south of china, were the major source of soldiers. Their cereal depended on Tun Tian along the Changjiang River. Because there was not strong point in the west ,the Line was destroyed finally. The Line reflected the fundamental political situation of Wu: influence clan in the south of china occupied Jingzhou superiority, Yangzhou was controlled by royal court directly, and Wuchang was their point of balancing power. It also reflected the characteristic of political situation in Kingdom of Wu: not only balancing the clan in the south of china and scholar-officials from the north, but balancing the power between Jingzhou and Yangzhou, for streng thening authority of empire. |
