Ganzi and Aba Prefectures, located between Tibet and the inland, have a very important geographical position. Ganzi and Aba prefectures have always been a traffic hub in joining the southwest and northwest of China and an important area in Han-Tibetan cultural blending. So as the saying goes: "governing Tibet needs governing Kangding first; Stabilizing Tibet needs stabilizing Kangding first." Because of its unique geographic, political and economic conditions, Ganzi and Aba prefectures have always play a special strategic role in drafting policies of governing Tibet by central government. With the development of west China and construction of socialistic new rural areas it has set new requirements for Ganzi and Aba prefectures. Grasping the opportunities and accelerating the development have become the prime problems facing Ganzi and Aba prefectures.Traffic serves as an important foundation in social economical development. The 20th century saw the traffic in Ganzi and Aba prefectures, evolving from ancient traffic system into a modern one, which has greatly accelerated the social economic development in these two prefectures. However, traffic in Ganzi and Aba prefectures need to be further improved in the overall situation of the development in Sichuan and west China. "Traffic bottleneck" is still one main factor restricting the overall harmonious and sustainable development of social economy in Ganzi and Aba prefectures. Now how we can solve traffic problem radically to further accelerate the economic development and nation unity in ganzi and Aba prefectures is a great issue facing us.In my thesis I borrowed research method from historical geography,...
