Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley is one of the important novelists during the romanticism in early nineteenth-century. Her representative work Frankenstein is a Gothic Style novel filled with life and creation, revenge and ruin, terror and blood. The novel describes the miserable experience that the hero created human beings using the means of science and technology and he was ruined by creation. The novel also succeeds the predecessors' thinking about the serious problems such as Creation of life, science and technology conflicting with humanity and alienation of human beings in the modern civilization.The preface reviews the background of Frankenstein, simply sums up the current status of study, and expounds the purpose of the thesis. Chapter one, Departing from the ancient myth of life creating, by analyzing the borrowing and innovation of prototype Creation in the Bible, Paradise Lost and Faust, reveals the deep and wide sources of Creation of the novel and interprets the deep connotation of the theme of life creation. Chapter two begins with the relation between science and technology and humanity, which makes clear relation between works and the natural view of romanticism and science fiction, and focuses on discussing the theme of the conflict between science and technology and natural humanity and the contemporary meaning of the novel by analyzing the characters of the works, putting across its real value prior to other novels which have gothic style and romanticism.
