"Qi Sheng", which was composed in Yuan dynasty by YUQIN who was born in QI, part of ShanDong, is the earliest and most complete chorography for SHANDONG, To narrate and reflect the nature and society, the history and actuality, "Qi Sheng" includes six tomes, with preface and catalog in front pages for each tome, interpretation and postscript in back pages written by YUQIAN the son of YUQIN.It was composed in seven parts, that is evolution, variations, mountains, counties, historic sites, traditions and characters, with contents ranging from history geography, cultural historic sites, religion temples to customs and biographies to make it concise and comprehensive.As a native of ShanDong, YU had got the most convenient situation to write the book for the local history, which made it easy for him to visit the sites, to call on the old, to review and understand the traditions. With abundant first-hand knowledge, and furthermore as a skilled and wise writer, Yu wrote his book to the extent to be the true history even more authentic than the official history, which brought forward tremendous values in the fields of philology, chorography and preserving the history information."General catalogue of imperial collection of four" commended QiSheng as "narrating briefly but comprehensively, setting the best example in Yuan dynasty for chorography", saying that "as a native of Qi, with research and practical information, Yu's book became more substantial compared to other writers' books which are only depended on some maps.
