A Study On The Historical Materials Value Of "Dongjing Menghua Lu" On Historical-Geography

Dongjing Menghua Lu, which was wrttten in Song Dynasty by Meng Yuan-lao, described the prosperity of East Capital Bianliang, the capital of North Song Dynasty. The book had been valued by people now and then for its diversiy in both content and languages. The book contains a great deal of history and geography materials for the Northern Song Dynasty city,it has important value in the research of urban layout, social life, economy and culture of that time .This paper gives a preliminary study on this book's historical data from the perspective of historical geography, in order to find how the evolution of the capital of Kaifeng had taken place in the fields of politics, economics, culture and folk customs during the Northern Song Dynasty. And the unique role played by the geographical environment in this historic transition period is also concerned.This paper also absorbed the works of previous studies. By analysing the relevant historical geography data of Dongjing Menghua Lu and other related materials, the article comprehensively use literature, history, historical geography, urban planning study, architecture, and other multidisciplinary Knowledge, espicially the combination of history and geography, aiming to study the political, economic and cultural characterization of Kaifeng during the Northern Song Dynasty's, and also the impact to the social transformation of the Dynasties afterwords. The paper has made a classification and categorization of the materials from the view of historical geography,such as urban geography, economic geography and cultural geographical dimensions. On the basis of above work, the thesis studies the city layout, the public sectors of entertainment ,people's leisure life and the social economic development,of Northern Song Dynasty's Kaifeng Kaifeng,in order to deepen our knowledge of the Donging Menghua Lu and the development of society ,urban and so on.The thesis totally consists of three parts: the preamble, the text and conclusions . The text consists of three chapters: historical urban , economic and cultural geographical data value.The preamble gives a globe explaination and a brief introduction of Dongjing Menghua Lu, including Meng Yuanlao and the book,the content of Dongjing Menghua Lu, the circulation of versions, the research status quo, research significance, and so on. In the body part of the paper, by analysing the historical data of the Square system, water and bridges, urban planning and layout, population, shops, handicraft industry, commerce, night markets, entertainment life, folklore, and other aspects in Dongjing Menghua Lu, the dissertation studies the value of Dongjing Menghua Lu in the research of urban geography, economic geography and history and history-culture geography.In the conclusions of the summary ,the thesis gives a discussion of Dongjing Menghua Lu's impact on the dynasties followed.
