The Research On The Vocabulary Of Jottings From Laoxue An

Jottings from Laoxue An is a literary piece, written by Lu You in Song Dynasty. Much importance in universally attached to it because of its variety in content although it consists of about six thousands words. This thesis just focuses on the development of the vocabulary system.On the basis of research achievement by our predecessors, the thesis goes on studying and making a break through in the width and depth by studying the vocabulary system in Jottings from Laoxue An. This thesis consist of five chapters. In the first chapter, we provide some information about the book, such as author, editions, value, and researches in the past, and about the thesis ,such as reason, meaning. In the second chapter and the third chapter, we focus on depicting and analyzing general picture and produced approaches of new words and new meanings. In the fourth chapter, there are a lot of idioms in the former historical records. This thesis classifies these words and makes intensive study of them. Conclusion is in the fifth chapter.On my hodology, traditional methods (such as philology, exegetics, textual criticism etc.) and modern (such as lexicology ,semantics etc.) were applied in the study. Both synchronic study and diachronic study were untied in the paper. We hope to provide some material for further researches on linguistic value about Jottings from Laoxue An, and also do some work for study of the history of Chinese language.
