This thesis is based on the relevant literature read and lectures attended by the author, from which the author draws a conclusion of her own, namely, translators must pay due respect for target text readers with regard to their role in the process of translation. The article is carried out from this idea and begins with definition of readers referred to in the discussion followed and goes on with the analysis of reader's psychological activities in the reading as well as the continuum of their psychological changes in reading a translated work. Then, the author quotes a lot from reader-response theory and hence moves forward to the discussion about views on readers by several famous scholars. After that, the author mentions specific techniques used in translating in view of their special concern for target text readers. In the following part, an elaboration on translating from rhetoric and stylistic perspectives concerning reader's role is presented. Last, means of improving reader's ability to read are proposed and illustrated.
