America and Britain has a consanguineous relation with China on the issue of trade, but the triumph of Chinese revolution broke the traditional structure that the western countries including America and Britain governed China. With the continuous lucidity of Chinese condition, America and Britain which have had the important business interests were faced to adjust their China's trade policies. The period from 1949 to 1954 is an important era for the history of the relationship of America, Britain and China. In this period, their trade policies have gone through a flexuous course. The thesis intends to study the formulation, similarities and differences, results and the reactions of China about America-Britain's China's trade policies in the period of 1949-1954, in the clue of foundation of PRC, the Korean War and the Geneva Conference, and try to search the reasons of their policies. Its study will have an important academic and realistic significance on how to deal with the political relations and trade relations between countries.This thesis divides into four parts which contains introduction, straight matter, conclusion and reference. Among these, the straight matter is divided into three parts which respectively study America-Britain's different China's trade policies during the period of the foundation of PRC, the Korean War, and the Geneva Conference. The first part reviews different routes of America and Britain on the idiographic measures in the early days of PRC, but their same goal is to hope that China wouldn't avoid throwing herself into the lap of the Soviet Union. The second part mainly recites the boycott policy of America and Britain, and meanwhile they have bifurcation in the frame of boycott. But their policies gradually tended to be tough. The third part is research from the upper stage of the Korean War to the period of the Geneva Conference. In this period, Britain wanted to improve the trade relation with China, but America closed the door to China and the trade quantitydropped very rapidly. America and Britain each went their own way.In a word, the thesis considers that the trade policies between America and Britain had gone through a zigzag course. Their special relations had an important part in the implement of their policies, but their policies were different due to consideration of realistic benefits.
