It has been years since scholars began to study Lu Xun and his translations. They have made the study an important part in building modern Chinese translation theory and in Chinese translation history. However, different scholars carried out their studies from different perspectives and with different methods. Generally speaking, there are four main kinds of research: (1) Summary of Lu Xun's translation ideas;(2) Comparative study on Lu Xun and other great translators;(3) Study on Lu Xun's translation ideas in a large social and ideological context;(4) Transformation in Lu Xun's translation career. But nothing is perfect in the world, thus there appears a potential opportunity to make a breakthrough in this thesis.Based on the previous researches conducted by different scholars, this thesis aims to explore the deep roots of Lu Xun's transformation in translation views from the perspective of cultural study by applying the authorized cultural translation theory advocated by Susan Bassnett and Andre Lefevere and Lawrence Venuti's foreignization conception as the theoretical framework. Then, the specific analysis will be carried out as follows: First, the transformation of Lu Xun's translation views will be more clearly stated. A table of Lu Xun's main translations will be first given, then a conclusion will be reached that Lu Xun, in his translation career, was not consistent in his translation views. He changed his views not only in his priority of source texts from different countries, but also changed in his selection of the styles of the source text, and the most important point is his change in the translation strategies, from free translation to literal translation. Second, according to the cultural translation theory advocated by Susan Bassnett and Andre Lefevere and foreignization conception proposed by Venuti, Lu Xun's transformation in his translation views is not accidental, but has its deep roots. The factors will be mainly discussed from two broadaspects: one is the whole background he was living in including the social background, the general literary trend, atmosphere in the translation field and language;the other is the internal factors including his own ideological ideas formed during the process of his growing up, his contact with different literature, different philosophical schools home and broad.Third, the great influence that Lu Xun's transformation in translation views has brought on translation field will be discussed. His influence was not only embodied in his times, but is spread to today's translation activity. He enriched the system of translation theory with his opinions in the following aspects like the purpose and the criteria of translation, the language used in translation, translation strategy, the potential audience of translation and even translation criticism. All these views are, on the one hand, successive and on the other hand, very creative and far-sighted.
